Enhancing Capacities for Successful Project Proposals

10. dec. 2024

The Twin Synergies project, designed to reduce disparities in research and innovation performance among EU member states, brings together nine esteemed partners from the Czech Republic, Croatia, Romania, and Germany. Launched in May 2024 and running until April 2026, the project fosters synergies that bridge science and industry, particularly in less research- and innovation-intensive European regions.

A key milestone of the project was the first training session on project proposal writing, held from December 3–4, 2024, in Ostrava, Czech Republic. A project partner, VSB - Technical University of Ostrava, organised the event, and the training was led by a project partner, Steinbeis Europa Zentrum, which provided participants with in-depth knowledge to prepare successful applications for Horizon Europe funding calls. Given the challenges of applying to Horizon Europe and the relatively low success rates of applicants from Eastern and Southeastern Europe, such training is invaluable.

During the event, participants delved into critical topics such as proposal concept development, goal setting, excellence, implementation, impact, consortium composition, and budget planning. The training was led by renowned project management experts Robert Gohla and Miljana Ćosić, who shared practical advice to enhance the quality of project proposals.

In addition to knowledge acquisition, the training offered an excellent platform for networking and strengthening partnerships. RCNM leveraged this opportunity to enhance its capacities for successful project submissions, a step of strategic importance for reinforcing the region's role in the international scientific and economic landscape.

The Twin Synergies project supports the EU's strategic objectives by promoting operational and managerial synergies, particularly in scientific entrepreneurship and Deep Tech. By aligning cohesion policies with Horizon Europe initiatives, the project enhances the efficiency and impact of both frameworks, enabling participating countries to better integrate into the European innovation ecosystem.
